Baby Announcement
The spring weather is bringing the cherry trees to their peak this weekend in DC. Following along with the new flowers and baby animals of the wild, Chalfont House is excited to announce the arrival of our newest book:
Name:
"A is for Airstrip:
A Missionary's Jungle Adventure"
Parents (aka Authors): Marilyn Laszlo, with Elizabeth Maddrey and Linda Perry
Weight: 32 full-color pages
Height: 8.5 x 11 inches
This delightful children's picture book is colorfully illustrated with nearly
70 photos from Marilyn Laszlo's 25 years in the jungle of Papua New Guinea
where she translated the Bible into the language of the Sepik Iwam people at
the village of Hauna. God's amazing story through Marilyn is presented as an
ABC book with a short rhyme for each letter of the English alphabet. There is
also an activity for each letter, and pairs of words showing the English and
Sepik Iwam ways to say some common words. Children, teens, and adults will
all love this book!
"A is for Airstrip" makes a great gift for children and grandchildren, would
be an entertaining read in your waiting room, and is an instant "Missions"
lesson for homeschoolers and teachers in classrooms and in Sunday School.
About Marilyn Laszlo:
Marilyn was born in Valpariso, Indiana, as the eldest of four daughters of
Martin and Lois Laszlo. Marilyn grew up on a small farm. As a young girl,
while plowing the fields of her parent's farm, she made a commitment to be a
missionary. She graduated from Bryan College, Tennessee, which also recently
awarded her a Doctorate of Letters (May 2003). Marilyn studied linguistics at
the University of Oklahoma and then kept her commitment to God by serving with
Wycliffe Bible Translators. She traveled to Papua New Guinea, with a
translation partner, to Hauna Village, home of the Sepik Iwam people. Marilyn,
her sister Shirley, and their language helpers took an unwritten language
and created an alphabet and reading books, and taught the people to read
and write. Marilyn and Shirley did medical work, and trained indigenous
people to operate a local school, store, and clinic. Now, a boat staffed
by Sepik Iwam Christians shares the Gospel and offers medical work along
the river. Marilyn's video "Return to Hauna" won the Angel Award in 1999.

What We've Been Up To This Quarter
Isn't everybody just busy-busy-busy at the start of a new year? In addition
to preparing for the "birth" of the new book, we led two "One-Day
Post-Abortion Healing Conferences", and were the invited presenter of two
workshops at the Focus on the Family pregnancy center conference.
One-Day Post-Abortion Healing Conferences
Late January in Florida ... what could be better for a lazy day on the
beach? But that was not what nearly 80 people were doing in Pinellas Park!
The Pregnancy Center of
Pinellas County hosted an area-wide
"One Day
Post-Abortion Healing Conference" and the response was fantastic. Held in
a hotel and led by Linda & Dennis Perry, the day got rave reviews from both
the women and the men who came for training and healing. Many thanks to
Sol Pitchon, April Hymen, Jan Walters, and all the other staff and
volunteers who made the conference a healing, ministering day.
February brought the "One Day Post-Abortion Healing Conference" back to
Assist CPC in
Annandale, VA. This was our 11th conference, and we had
over 25 men and women in attendance. God continues to draw those who need
to come!
Deb Lynch at Ithaca
Pregnancy Center, NY, recently wrote us: "I found the
planning guide very helpful. We used it in summer 2003. We had about a
dozen attendees, 3 of which were post-abortive. It was so successful that
we plan to run two conferences a year! I thought the guide was very well done."
Our "One Day Post-Abortion Healing Conference" planning guide has been updated
to include an introductory training in post-abortion ministry for those who
want to explore a potential calling into this field. Have an older version
of our planning guide that doesn't include the Training Track? Contact us to
hear about an inexpensive upgrade to your manual. Haven't hosted a One Day
Post-Abortion Healing Conference in your area? Contact us to purchase a
planning guide, or to schedule us to lead a conference for you.
Prayer Request
Our friend Allison is introducing some DC-area Air Force Chaplains to the
One-Day Post-Abortion Healing Conference. Their response has been
enthusiastic, but you can well imagine that red-tape is involved whenever
one works with a facet of the government. Please pray that God will open and
close doors as He wills, and will lead us as we endeavor to bring
abortion-healing to the men and women of our armed services.
Focus on the Family Pregnancy Center Conference
Linda Perry led two invited workshops, titled "How To Help Your Clients Deal
with Their Feelings" and "How To Minister To Parents With Pregnant Teenagers".
There were approximately 100 attending each workshop and verbal feedback was
very encouraging. Linda loved seeing many of you in person again and catching
up with your lives!
